You know, every once in a while, something happens that reminds me why I love this country so much.
And this week, of all things, it involved a guy stocking frozen pizzas.
His name is Walt.
He's a Red Baron employee, a father of four, and just another hardworking American trying to make ends meet.
Well, a video of Walt went viral this week after a couple of social media pranksters decided to mess with him while he was working.
They pretended to steal money from his phone, hoping to get some funny reaction they could turn into views.
But Walt wasn't laughing.
He was tired. He was already running late getting home to his kids. He had another early morning ahead of him, a mortgage he was struggling to pay, and a family counting on him.
And he let them know it.
You could hear the frustration in his voice. Not just over the stupid prank, but over everything he was carrying.
And I'll tell you what, I think a whole lot of Americans recognized that feeling.
Because there are millions of Walts in this country.
Moms and dads getting up before sunrise. Working long hours. Missing time with their families. Doing whatever they have to do to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table.
They're not looking for attention. They're not asking for applause.
They're just trying to do right by the people they love.
And that's what makes the rest of this story so special.
Instead of becoming another forgotten viral video, something pretty incredible happened.
Americans rallied around Walt.
People who had never met him started donating to a fundraiser, and within days, more than $400,000 had been raised to help him and his family.
Think about that.
Thousands of strangers reaching into their own pockets to help a hardworking father they'd never met.
And Red Baron? They stood by their employee, too.
Their message was simple:
"He's still here. He's got a fan club. Including us."
I absolutely LOVE that.
You know, we spend so much time hearing about everything that's wrong with America. The division, the anger, the politics, the constant negativity.
And sure, we've got our problems.
But then something like this happens.
And it reminds me that underneath all that noise, there are still a whole lot of good, decent, hardworking Americans looking out for one another.
That's the America I believe in.
The America where hard work still means something. Where people respect an honest day's work. Where family matters. Where strangers can come together and make a real difference in somebody's life.
And here's something else I took away from this.
You never really know what somebody else is going through.
That guy stocking the shelves. The waitress bringing your coffee. The person delivering your packages.
Everybody's carrying something.
A little kindness and respect can go a long way.
And sometimes, as Walt just found out, a whole lot of kindness can change somebody's life.
I'm happy for Walt. I'm proud of the Americans who stepped up to help him. And good for Red Baron for standing behind him.
Stories like this remind me that there's still so much worth celebrating in this great country of ours.
And that's something we should never lose sight of.
Keep working hard. Keep looking out for one another. And never underestimate the good you can do for somebody else.
Because sometimes the best of America shows up when you least expect it.
God bless Walt, and God bless America! 🇺🇸

P.S. After seeing how Red Baron stood behind Walt, I think it's safe to say I've got my dinner plans figured out. I'm buying a Red Baron pizza tonight! 🍕
